Yes, they are real and they will majorly mess up your tomato yield. No, not vampires. Tomato suckers.
I have not seen any of the Twilight movies and do not care to, but I have not let that stop me from jumping on the parody-bandwagon! The only specific detail I know about these films is there’s a conversation like the one above in the first one that came out. It was in the trailer, which I may or may not have heard emanating from Steph’s laptop many, many, many times.

When we construct things, my dad, my brother, and I all seem to be what my mom calls “overbuilders.” By this she means, we use 2x4s and 3/4″ plywood when thinner stocks would do; we always overestimate the extra spaces needed in shelves, doorways, etc.; and we love our supports and braces…resulting in pieces that are both rock-solid, and large, heavy, and filled with 2.5″ drywall screws.
Recently I “overbuilt” us a vegetable washing station that we “needed” with an old kitchen sink and some scrap wood that some friends gave me. (Thanks, Bliss and Thurston!)

Also, here’s how the garden is shaping up this year:

I know, I know. I’m a meanie.
With today’s comic, I have stolen from the work of not one, but two great artists:
Steph’s pose in the eighth panel, is, of course, straight from Edvard Munch.
The “character’s shape that slowly dissolves into a cloud of smoke, because they’ve bolted” gag (that’s what is going on at the end, in case it’s not coming across in my drawing) is straight out of the old Looney Toons cartoons. Specifically those directed by Chuck Jones. Chuck Jones made the best Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck/Coyote & Road Runner cartoons that will ever exist. He had an impeccable sense of comic-timing and just knew how to draw perfect facial expressions. When I drew myself in panels 4–6, I was thinking about a specific sequence Jones created for the original, animated Grinch, that culminated with the Grinch looking out at the audience like this:

Genius.
